Maybe someone should submit this is as a question to the Oakies ...
there sure are a lot of them lately.

groundhog chew on the leg of an oak table?
Maybe, but WOODCHUCKS (Weird Old Oracle DBA's Committed to Holding Up
Crappily Koded Scripts) would, if they could.

We've all done silly things in public, clicking on that page from an
aggregator rubbed me wrong enough to think of the old unnecessary use
of cat flamage. http://partmaps.org/era/unix/award.html

"Oracle loves to maintain... high-end products... with big margins,

great weapon to couple with M-series servers, but many customers are
now shifting to IBM and HP (yes, HP with its old Itanium) to have a
credible "stack"." http://www.channelregister.co.uk/201...le_signoretti/

Marketing-wise you should have waited with that until next Tuesday and
go public at this event:

Also, it seems Groundhog Day is based on pagan myths; aren't you
afraid you will attract the non-scientific 'silver-bullet'
adepts? ...

How much oak would a groundhog chew, if a groundhog would chew
oak? ...

LOL!

Actually, all that information nowadays is much better obtained from the
sys_context function.

You have to distinguish - everyone can create an account on
oaktable.net using the "Login/Create Account" link on the top of the
homepage.

Members will be shown here: http://www.oaktable.net/members

The link shown goes to the "users" area, so to someone who as
registered as a user, not a member...

But I know from the past and the old website that this (user vs.
member) already caused confusion back then.

Thanks for clearing that up, I didn't even check, and I should know
better. Nearly all the names on the members list are people I
respect, trust, and have no fear of questioning since I know from
experience they will back up what they say or be scientific about it.
And I should probably get to know the ones I don't know.

Joel:

# And I should probably get to know the ones I don't know.

Groundhogs say "So many oakies to chew on so little time ..."

Being realistic the ones that publish the most information in the most
accessible forms are the ones you stand to learn the most from.
Cary's book of course is one of the clearest example of what can be
done.

It takes a lot of time to really write a quality book. One can take
the approach of different people throwing together different pieces of
material and hoping it sticks together into a coherent piece. Many of
the oakies did that recently ... some of it is pretty good some of it
ok some of it could still use some polishing and re-work.

Of course the time one might need to really do a quality job writing
is also the time that one might need to be out earning a paycheck and
putting groceries on the table!

It takes a lot less effort to be a groundhog!
