Hi all,

I know Oracle has 8 releases for its Applications E-Business version 11, i.e
Applications 11.5.1 to Applications 11.5.8.
What are the 11i releases? It seems Oracle has only one release for 11i so
far.

Hi!

The release 11.5.x is just a summary name for bunch of products with certain
versions which have been put to one package.

But one thing is sure - if you might get away without any patching for your
database server application, then for Oracle E-Business Suite you have to
get used with the idea, that you continuously patch your production system.
At least first few years after implementation and that is if you don't make
major changes or use additional functionality in your environment.

For example, I have an 11.5.3 installation, where half of the files are
actually versions 11.5.7, 11.5.8 or even 11.5.9 (though the package isn't
out yet). So, the 11.5.x release number gets kind of obscure right after you
patch your system.

Around the same time, the 'internet' magic happened & everyone wanted to have
'electronic' or 'internet' in their product name so Oracle [marketing?] named
the 11.5 applications suite the Oracle 11i E-Business Suite.

So Oracle 11i E-Business Suite is anything inder the 11.5.x stream.

In parallel with the Applications, you have the core technology which consists
of Tools, AppServer, Database and CollaborationSuite and these are all found
under the "Oracle 9i" brand name.

11.5.8 is the current production release!

10.7.x Was available in NCA, Smart Client, and Character.
11.0.x Is not available in C/S or Character, it is only available as
NCA

11i is an expanded version of the 11 E-Business Suite which added the
CRM and TCA products.

I do not believe 11.5.9 release date has been anounced yet, for more
