Default Ding dong, the wicked witch is dead! - 12-23-2011 , 01:55 AM

I just received an email saying the following:

Dear My Oracle Support User,

Over the coming months, we will upgrade the My Oracle Support user
interface (UI) to help provide faster, more streamlined access to support
information and services.

Built on Oracle’s own Application Development Framework (ADF), benefits
of the redesigned UI will include:

Streamlined, three-step process for initiating new Service Requests
(SRs)
Single, consistent workflow for both hardware and software incidents
Enhanced personalization and filtering within the user interface
New accessibility features (enabling screen readers, large fonts,
etc.)

The Oracle ADF-based UI will replace the current HTML and Flash versions.
All HTML users will migrate to the new interface in late January 2012;
Flash users will transition approximately 90 days later. Please continue
to use the URL you normally input when signing into My Oracle Support;
the existing website addresses will automatically redirect you to the new
interface.

Visit the “My Oracle Support Next-Generation User Interface” Web page for
additional information on the planned timeline, technical requirements,
available training, and other important details. Note: IE6 users must
upgrade to IE7 or higher.

We appreciate your continued feedback and insights regarding My Oracle
Support.

Sincerely,
Oracle Support

The flash monstrosity will finally die! Ding dong, the witch is dead...

Let us rejoice.

Adeste fideles, laeti triumphantes,
Venite, venite in Bethlehem.
Natum videte Regem angelorum,
Venite adoremus (ter),
Dominum.

Dear My Oracle Support User,
At least you got a "dear email".
We pay Oracle in excess of 6 figures per year and apparently that is lessthan
the cost of an email?

Ah yes, ADF. Ain't that what con-Fusion is based on?
Judging by how long it took for that one to be out - is it yet? - it won't be a
few months. More like 10 years...

3 steps to "initiate"? Why 3 steps?
It's a SR.
I wouldn't start it if I didn't want to create one.
One step.
End of story!

Why do I sense another development monstrosity?

As bad as it can get. I don't want "personalization", you nongs!
This is NOT a social site!
This is a WORK site!!!!
Leave the "feel good/group hug" NONSENSE out of it!

For once: something positive!

Really? How much feedback and insight did you receive asking for an ADF
interface? Numbers, please?

It should never have happened in the first place. But Oracle internal
development seems to be governed by fads and managed by fakes...

Nuno, why do I sense the lack of optimism? You must have seen this:

I believe that this is Oracle's way to wish us all a marry Christmas.
Ho, ho, ho!

I've got to dig through my 1980 vintage school work, I'm sure I got
that as a crappy black-and-white copy with about half those frames.
