Default CHRT command - 07-01-2012 , 03:02 PM

I've mentioned chrt command in another post. Since the version 2.6.23.
Linux has its own version of the venerable Solaris priocntrl command. The
command is called "chrt" and the manual page should be available on all
RH 5.x and later system. It's a backport, of course.

Manual page is available here:
http://linux.die.net/man/1/chrt

More detailed explanation is available here:
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-s...ling-priority-
process/

This allows setting the real time priority for LGWR or VirtualBox
processes and it can make quite a difference. Of course, the standard
warning about playing with the priorities of the oracle processes is
still valid: don't do it, unless you really, really know what are you
doing and what are the ramifications.
