| Vendors SQL-guys have started to fix these also, another significant performance increase coming, I hope. But it's all Oracle's fault, ain't it? Damn SQL, it's always the problem. Never the space between the chair and the keyboard... These things just happen. ![]() Indeed! Good story, that one. Surprising how often Ive seen it repeated and I still see it again and again. One would have thought IT damagement would have wised up. Unfortunately, they're all still looking for silver bullets... |

Of course if one of many controllers corrupts, welcome to hell. |

I've been amazed many times how often warnings are ignored. (Couldn't find with a quick search something I came across yesterday on the hp forums - guy posted his warning messages with a raid question, apparently didn't realize that the "battery dead" messages meant no battery backup on write cache [depends on hardware as to whether that turns cache off, I believe].) Yet another use for duct tape - covering up annoying warning lights. http://groups.google.com/group/comp....e05efc4b33ac4c |

I'm running OLTP on RAID5. No one mentions what happens when the write buffer is full. Or when the batteries die and turn off the cache. |

# onedbguru is obviously well-qualified to be speaking on the topics he does. Maybe so ... I don't put a lot of faith in postings by people that are not willing to use their real names ( even after all the years I was using hpuxrac I don't think it was hard to know who I really was ). |
