Default Versions: When comes Oracle 12 - 09-29-2010 , 09:14 AM

Hi,

does anybody know, when Oracle 12 is planned to publish? Is there a link
that I can follow?

People who know aren't allowed to say. The rest of us speculate
uselessly. You can read into http://www.oracle.com/us/support/lib...ogy-069183.pdf
that it might be this year, but if it wasn't trumpeted at OpenWorld, I
guess not. Maybe someone who was there heard something. I haven't
noticed anything on any blog, I assume it would be big news.

Assuming you mean the database, of course. With all the products and
strange numbering, you have to be specific.

MySQL?

Isn't that the DBMS with

No deferrable constraints
No check constraints
Non transactional FK evaluation
No recursive queries
No table functions
No rename for columns (not sure about that one)
No common table expressions
No windowing functions
No function based index
No partial index
No full text search on transactional tables
No GIS features on transactional tables
No MINUS or INTERSECT operator
Accepts 31st of Februar as a valid date
Pretty dumb query optimizer with sub-selects
Obnoxious limits on sub-selects with UPDATEs
A lot of non-standard Syntax (|| is a logical or!)

Yes, right. Very superior.

Thomas

I do knot know where you know from, that MySQL could be good enough for
me, but even if so - this was not my question. I do not have the freedom
to decide, which RDBMS can be used.
I talk about an existing Oracle-DB, that probably will be upgrades
within the next year and so I need to know, whether it is possible or
not.

I hope you can see: Your answer is useless.

BTW: I would have understood, if you mentioned Postgre/PostGIS, but
MySQL solves none of our Problems

I guess they'll release it when it's ready, or a short while before ;-)
