Default SYS.dba_ddl_locks - 12-10-2007 , 06:17 AM

On Oracle 9.2.0.5, windows 2000 server,

select * from SYS.dba_ddl_locks

after a time being resulted with an error
ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 2628 bytes
(callheap,temporary memory)
later
ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 480 bytes
(Typecheck heap,frodef : qcpitnm)

We tried to track why compilation of the package resluted with an error
ORA-04021: timeout occurred while waiting to lock object

any suggestions...

Patch up to 9.2.0.8 (the terminal release of 9.2.0); it appears to be
a bug or memory leak addressed by a later patch.

Searching on metalink on dba_ddl_locks only found 4 bug reports and
only one is recent: bug 4161164 E-Business Intelligence so I think
opening a Service Request might be necessary if the problem is
reproducible and all spare OS memory has not be exhausted.
