Default SQL Explorer for eclipse - 02-06-2010 , 08:37 AM

I have Oradb11g_home1 it is a freeware stand alone for personal used.
I download the software from Oracle web site. It is not easy to use
cmd for running sql. So I was hoping that I can use SQL Explorer
plugin
eclipse as SQL editor. I have followed the instruction
http://eclipsesql.sourceforge.net/ and tried to work around to install
the SQL explorer but failed. The web site says I can change the driver
but don't find the driver tab. Please shed a light.

Hi moongeegee,

I suggest You to use the Oracle SQL Developer.
In Eclipse I use jOra and Eclipse Data Tools, but none of them is as
powerful as SQL Developer for Oracle DBs.

Thank you. Since I could not integrate SQL eclipse, I use SQL
Developer that comes with Oracle software package.
I was Oracle developer years ago, unfortunately, I lost my job and the
new job did not require Oracle skill. For years,
I did not touch Oracle. As now, My pace is behind and I am trying to
get back my feet. It seems that this web site has very low interactive
asking and answering activities. Do you know other web site that I can
post my questions?

Well, I don't know, what you expect as high activity.
For instant answers you'll need an oracle developer chat or something.
I think, this newsgroup and the otn forums are ok.

If you have some experience with oracle, the docs might be enough to
refresh your skills and get in touch with the new abilities of 10g and
11g.

Thomas

If I'm understanding your question correctly, it sounds like a tool
question, which would go for comp.databases.oracle.tools. But many
people follow all the cdo* groups, so avoid crossposting, but the only
thing most people care about as far as which group to post in is
commercial posts (job or product ads, which go in cdo.marketplace).

Some people (like Chris Warticki) seem to think usenet is dead, but
around here it just takes a question people are interested in. (Yeah,
I'm mildly miffed he didn't put cdos in
http://blogs.oracle.com/Support/2010...then_what.html
or my comment about it, but then again, lol that the Oracle Community-
wide Resources link is 404.)

Here's some more info about cdos (which mostly applies across all cdo*
groups): http://dbaoracle.net/readme-cdos.htm I admit I've fallen a
bit behind in maintaining it, I do have a to-do list. There's a more
out-of-date degenerate version on orafaq (scraped from me with
permission), but I'm too lazy to fix it.
