There will
always be gaps when using a sequence. I don't know how you managed to
not have gaps using 9.
Well, we were not getting anywhere near as many, or so the application
people tell me.

"or so the application people tell me". That sentence sits uneasily
with me. Is there anyway to verify this for yourself?

Oh, if I wanted I could dig through the tables to see how often there
are gaps since from my knowledge of the application I believe the tables
will have timestamps. However, if the apps people are happy (which they
are now) then I really don't care as I have far bigger fish to fry. The
gaps don't really affect the end users, just the apps people who
sometimes have to look through the data to find out what has been going on.

I agree with Gints Plivna that this is a bad requirement, and I did try
to dissuade people.
