Default RMAN - 10-05-2009 , 12:04 PM

Hi,

Is there any way to tell RMAN to look in 2 places when you 'include
archivelogs' in your backup? Say that the archive log destination
fills up and you need to move them elsewhere, maybe during some many
DML statements.

If the destination gets full, I may want to move the logs elsewhere
and free up room for further work.....

Obviously Oracle is a product which is never changes. This is why you
considered it unimportant to post the exact version, so volunteers
need to outline the options for all versions.
Also Oracle is an undocumented product, at least you couldn't be
bothered to read the documentation.
By doing so you require volunteers to abstract the documentation.

Usenet is about helping other people out. It is not about doing the
work of the lazy ones for free.

If you want to change the archivelog destination there is no problem.
If you want to relocate current archives, you can either run an adhoc
archivelog backup, or read up on the UNCATALOG and CATALOG RMAN
commands.

I'm aware of this mister, just wondering if there was any other way.

Magnet, how are we supposed to know what you are aware of when you
have not provided any information on how you run your current backups
or the Oracle version. There have been numerous enhancements to rman
with each release since 8.0 when it was introduced so the version
available is likely to be important.

You mean that Oracle version numbers aren't simply periodically
increased on an ad-hoc basis to denote the passing of time?

To the OP: as Sybrand stated, by providing exact Oracle version
information together with details of what you've tried and what
happened when you did so will encourage people to be more forthcoming
with their help.
