Default Problems with starting iSQL*Plus on Windows XP - 03-03-2006 , 03:48 AM

Dear Oracle Experts,

I'm using Oracle 10gR2 on Windows XP SP2.
Since the last boot of my mashine I have a problem with my isql*plus
service.

If I try to start this service I get an Error saying that the
application (isqlplussvc.exe)cannot be started because the memory
cannot be read at 0x000000000.
Does this mean that my isqlplus.exe file is corrupt or are there any
known problems with Oracle on Windows XP ?

Do you have an idea how to solve that problem ?

Best regards,

Daniel Wetzler

This error always occurs (in any product) when the product tries to
allocate virtual memory, this allocation attempt fails (so the
0x0000000 address is returned) and the product yet tries to use it.
As such, your system can have insufficient memory, but it can also be a
bug in Oracle. Who can tell?
You would first need to ascertain how much physical RAM you have, and
how much virtual RAM you are using (by means of PerfMon).
If you have sufficient memory, you first need to curse Microsoft, then
visit Metalink.

Default isqlplussvc.exe - 04-13-2006 , 12:12 AM

I dont think it is related to memory capacity. I got a brand new computer with 2GB memory and have the same problem. We need to investigate and post the solution to all its users. It looks like a bug in oracle. Thanks. Gokhan.
