Default Oracle Forms and Java - 10-30-2007 , 02:58 AM

I all

I have an 25-years-old experience on Microsoft developing, from sequential
files to MsSQL. Oracle was the inarrivable myth.

Now I am approaching Oracle, but the myth it's falling.

To be upright, I am thinking that a lot of trouble it's due the incopentence
of certain consulter; I need help to undersand where's the badness.

For example: I cannot update Java VM on clients, I must use the dangerous
1.1.5 JVM because "Oracle Forms it's certified only for JVM 1.1.5". Now, my
questions are:
1) It's possible that Oracle it's imposing to use an old JVM, out-dated
since last december?
2) If 1) is yes, ther'is somebody taht's using JVM 1.1.6 with Oracle Forms?
3) If 1) is yes, ther'is a workaround to isolate JVM 1.1.5 from Internet
usage?

Regards

None of these questions can't be answered as your Forms doesn't seem
to have a version, but is probably paleolithic.

Could you possibly state that in English?

I'm lost, now.

If anyone knew what you were talking about they might be able to help.

WHICH release of Oracle Forms do you reference? I suspect it's
4.0 ...

Certainly it's possible, if the vendor is using an old version of
Forms. But we won't know that until you tell us which version that
is.

WHICH RELEASE OF FORMS????? (Sorry, but it's frustrating when you keep
asking questions and fail to provide the necessary information to
answer them.)

Can you tell us, please, which release of FORMS you are using? The
answers to your probing questions can't be supplied until you provide
that information.

Me too.

The eldest version I had lying around uses JRE 1.1.8.
That was Forms 4.5. Pre forms 4.5, no JRE.

Since then, there's been 5.0, 6.0, 6i, 9i and
the current version is 10g. Do realize the timeline
crossed the millennium here.

And if you ever had any Java exposure (which I barely had),
you would have known you can set your classpath to any
environment/version you like.
I have a workstation with a customer of mine, that still
uses JInitiator - it's versions use JRE 1.1.8, 1.3.1 and
1.3.2 happily together.

Should have been patched. But is not essential to the
original post.

Any programmer should know how to maintain different
environment sets for different versions, even on MS
platforms.

Pardon the ignorance - CRS in this context is ...?
Wikipedia, Slang entry #1?
