Job Description
The Application Support Manager provides expertise and team leadership
in the areas of application server installation, upgrades, patches,
tuning, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, application
deployments, container management, support, documentation of standards
and procedures for the administration of all supported environments.
This position could infrequently require travel on-site up to 10%-20%
of overall work time.

Minimum Job Requirements (Background & Experience):
... 10+ years experience supporting IT environments and projects
... Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent
... Must have hands on, extensive experience with the installation,
upgrade, and management of application server environments such as Sun
Glassfish, Apache Tomcat, Oracle Application Server, or Oracle (BEA)
WebLogic
... Optimize application performance by tuning application server
components. Familiarity with JVM garbage collection and the impact of
it on deployed applications
... In-depth knowledge of administration in a UNIX (Solaris) or Linux
(RHEL) command-line environment. Experience using X servers or VNC is
also helpful
... Knowledge of Oracle Internet Directory (OID) in a multi-master
replication environment or other comparable identity management
environments
... Thorough understanding of architectural elements required to
support large installations and maintain high availability such as
clustering and load balancing
... Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and how it
relates to system administration tasks, environments, and change
management
... Proactive, can-do attitude whose actions work toward continuous
process improvement
... Must be able to write effective technical documents and reports
... Excellent communication ability (verbal, written, and
presentation)
... Must exercise effective judgment and follow established procedures
in support of production and other critical environments; including,
but, not limited to lights off monitoring and 24x7 support
... Must be an excellent team player who can facilitate knowledge
sharing with team members
... Coordinate across various teams to effectively manage issues,
maintenance activities and deliverables
... Superior troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities with deliverables
including root cause analysis
... Hands on vendor management experience as it relates to support for
issue management and escalation

Preferred Requirements:
... Relevant industry certifications (Java, Unix/Linux, MCSE,
Application Server, Database, Image Capture)
... Past experience with Oracle Application Server including
configuration of OPMN, DCM, HTTP, OC4J, Web Cache, Portal, Discoverer,
Oracle Forms and Reports services
... Proficient in writing and maintaining shell scripts to automate
system tasks
... Familiar with Microsoft IIS administration, configuration, and
deployments for .NET applications
... Exposure to image capture applications like Kofax, Hyland OnBase is
a plus
... Familiar with Windows security (domain and standalone) and how it
relates to network share security experience modifying and backing up
the registry
... Experience with database related utilities and tools such as Oracle
SQL*Plus, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise
Manager, and Microsoft Data Sources
... Knowledge of government sponsored health care programs and systems
