Position: Oracle DBA
Job Length: full time employee with Global Systems & Strategies, Inc.
(GSS), contracted to FDA.
Work location: Rockville, Md. opposite White Flint Mall.

We wish to fill the position ASAP. GSS has been with this customer
over 12 years and has a new 1 year contract vehicle.

Some of the skills and experience we are looking for include:
- Experienced Oracle DBA
- UNIX and MSFT Windows experience (Oracle configuration, file
allocation, scripting)
- Good people skills
- Good at working with Developers for Performance Tuning and trouble
shooting
- Logical and physical database design support
- Designing and tuning database components.
- Applying database patches.
- Experience with analyzing, validating, and designing database
models, structures, and processes.
- Experience with database replication (Dataguard, Goldengate,
Shareplex - we are in the - process of evaluating them)
- Disaster recovery planning / implementation
- Automating application testing.
- RMAN

The work includes supporting our current DBA's with existing Oracle
instances on Windows platforms as well as supporting migration from
OpenVMS to a Solaris 10 on a SUN platform. In addition, it includes
product evaluation and installation of a replication solution for
disaster recovery.

We don't really expect every skill from every candidate but these will
be talking points with the client.
