Niche Technologists, Inc. is currently looking to hire a consultant
with a strong MS SQL Server DBA/Developer background for a 12 month on-
site project in NY City.

The consultant will facilitate the implementation of a third-party
package that uses SQL Server 2008 as the backend data source, and will
also be responsible for initiating SQL Server administration best
practices, architecture solutions for High Availability and for
supporting any custom database development work needed to deploy the
third –party application.

The consultant must have extensive background in SQL Server
administration and some development experience, as this role requires
a mix of DBA and developer skills. In addition to database
installation and maintenance, the consultant will participate in all
phases of the project including analysis, design, development, testing
and deployment. The consultant should possess excellent communication
skills, and will work closely with the application development teams
and provide DBA support.

Requirements:

• MS SQL Server certified
• 5+ years of MS SQL Server Administration in a large Active Directory
environment
• Experience supporting the installation and deployment of third-party
packages that employ SQL Server as the backend database
• Proven ability establishing HA solutions for SQL Server database
applications
• Proven ability to script solutions as well as a strong knowledge of
the GUI administration tools to manage change control and systems
monitoring
• Can independently install and configure SQL Server 2008
• Significant life-cycle database administration support including
database design, database development, testing, deployment, and
maintenance
• Strong database modeling and design skills
• Strong experience with database scripting, SQL development, unit
testing, and systems administration on Microsoft platforms
• Team player with excellent communication skills
• Self motivated and able to learn and research issues independently
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts
• Windows batch commands and scripting
• Willing and able to provide 24x7 support
