Hi everyone, newbie here.

I'm in the middle of trying to pick a suitable Olap tool - before
anybody mentions the Olap Report, i'd love to but there's little
chance of my company paying the £1,800 odd required, we are only a
small outfit.

Our needs aren't for flash budgeting - we need a simple tool that can
extract and drill down into data within an Excel interface for
reliable reporting. One of the key requirements is that implementation
and administration can be handled by myself in the MI department - i'm
no IT wiz (although I could probably manage but cannot afford the
time) and we don't have much IT resource available.

So far i've seen Analysis Services, which strikes me as structurally
fine but far too reliant on IT resources to set up cubes etc. TM1 is
looking a clear favourite, because it has the low IT overhead and i've
used it before (but only as an end-user). Comshare NPC looks again too
IT heavy, and i've had something based on Proclarity offered which is
just stinkingly expensive.

What i'd like to know is, in your more experienced opinions

a) Is TM1 a suitable product for those who are not overly IT able and
b) Any other better/alternative packages available which meet my
criteria?

Thanks in advance,

James

Hi James,

Im a user of PowerOLAP itself. Perhaps i can relate to you because i
too have a limited knowledge technically. You can visit
www.paristech.com to research on PowerOLAP itself.

Now if you want to know more about it, just send me email so in some way
i can help you out.

Regards,

Wind
