I'm quite often invited to "seminars" that are thinly-veiled sales
presentations, and just as often I decline. The other day I was given
the opportunity to attend a "BI Update" hosted by Thorogood Associates,
but seeing that Nigel Pendse was a speaker, I jumped at the chance. I
was not disappointed. His review of the results of the OLAP Survey 4 was
a top notch presentation - full of information, clear and elegant. I
highly recommend it to any follower of this group given the same chance.
(I'm an OLAP Report subscriber, so I ran back to my PC to see more, but
alas, the OLAP Survey is an additional US$2k. I'd pry the money from my
management, but we've just made a decision on a substantial purchase, so
it would be a bit hard to justify.)

The presentations given by Thorogood were also informative, and notable
for their lack of hard sell.

Overall, Thorogood provided a fine service that I thought ought to be
acknowledged.
