Default OWB to UDM? - 06-27-2006 , 10:40 AM

We are building our relational data marts in Oracle using Oracle
Warehouse Builder. It is very likely that we will use SSAS for
analytics (probably with ProClarity). Also, the company owns Crystal
Enterprise and we could push the whole of it throught SharePoint, which
the company is also committed to.

I think it's a solid direction for presentation but I want to know if
the two metadata repositories involved can talk to each other. OWB
builds a lot of metadata around the ETL process, which is very complex.
Is it possible for the UDM to leverage the OWB metadata? Or import it?

The goal is to provide metadata that tells the user where the data
comes from in the source systems (which are all Oracle-based). I know
I'm asking something like "Has anybody out there seen the Holy Grail?"
but I thought it was worth a post.

if your source is Oracle and you use Oracle Warehouse Builder, and I
suppose your data mart's database (your target) is also Oracle, to
ensure you have one seamless (compatible, integrated) metadata, you'd
better use the Oracle front-end products (Olap option, OracleBI
Spreadsheet Add-in, Discoverer, Report, etc.)
Best of all, you can download and try, then only then when they fill
your bills, you buy them (license them)
