Default Oracle BI and XMLA - 04-18-2007 , 05:30 AM

Hi,
I can't find a specific response to the question about Oracle support
for XMLA.

Basically, i'm trying to use Microsoft based tools to access the
Oracle BI framework.

I remember an article by Mosha some time last year where i think he
suggested that Microsoft's implementation of XMLA would work with
Oracle.

I may have got the wrong end of the stick, but does anyone know if/how
this is possible.

Regards,
Peter

I don't think Oracle supports XML for Analysis itself and in fact has
actively opposed MDX, OLE DB for OLAP and XML for Analysis. But the
former Siebel Analytics (now the Oracle BI Suite EE) can, I think,
report from XML for Analysis sources, and of course Essbase is an XML
for Analysis provider. So two recently acquired Oracle products can
presumably work with each other using a Microsoft API that Oracle
opposed! Needless to say, no products, including Oracle's own, support
the OLAP API that Oracle promoted (JOLAP).
