Default Open Source OLAP - 04-23-2005 , 02:57 AM

This is one area that a lot of vendors are watching with interest. There are
some good Open Source intiatives underway including those mentioned in this
thread.

New vendors are coming up with newer techniques of OLAP.
Mondrean is one on the ROLAP front.
Check with intellicus for fully web based OLAP solution.

Marco,

Is the expected MOLAP similar to Alea/TM1 in architecture?

I would not be surprised if it is similar to Alea/TM1 as I believe the
company is run by the brother of the former Managing Director of MIS.

Well that would be intersting wouldn't it!

A high quality free OLAP that allowed you to report and plan would
really throw the cat amongst the vendor pigeons ;-)

If the Open Source OLAP was a high quality as some of the other Open
Source stuff I have used in say e-learning, then this would be great
news for us consultants but not so good for the software salesmen.

An OLAP Enigine is one and the frontend is something different.

I see a market for a good webbased frontend for free OLAP.
