Internet / E-Commerce Company in search of a Lead Warehouse Engineer
(MSAS) in the greater Boston area to act as the technical lead/
architect of a 12 terabyte warehouse system. This position requires
writing code; it is not a design and blue sky role.

Notes: The hiring company will not consider candidates with a
consulting only background, or candidates that do not have experience
with SQL Server 2000/2005, and cube design/development experience. The
client is not currently providing visa transfers or sponsorship. An
ideal candidate would have worked for Google, VistaPrint, Lycos, or
Monster.

Relocation assistance is not provided but may be considered for an
outstanding candidate. Travel costs, if any, that are incurred for
interviews will be reimbursed.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities,
which requires experience with similar to identical responsibilities:

• Provide technical direction for the core relational warehouse
database
• Microsoft Analysis Services
• Microsoft Reporting Services
• ETL to populate the core warehouse
• Ensure the company has warehouse systems in place to deal with
explosive growth
• Lead and mentor other warehouse team members
• Work with the team on items such as
o DBA related work
o Cube creation
o Maintenance
o On-going optimization of the existing data structures
o Creating user friendly reporting systems
o Help in developing SSIS packages, scripts, programs, and schemas to
facilitate data movement and cleansing for internal and external data
feeds
o Maintain and monitor all warehouse systems to insure proper
operation, performance, and availability
• Write reports for different business constituents within the company

Requirements

• BS in computer science or equivalent (MS preferred)
• 3+ years experience on SQL Server 2000/2005
• Experience with other relational databases a definite plus
• Warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, star schema
• 2+ years experience with very large data warehouses including design
and tuning
• SQL Server Analysis Services – 2005 OLAP experience including design
and deployment of complex cubes
• Proficiency in Transact-SQL (SQL Server 2005 specific), complex
queries, stored procedures, functions and other related system objects
• Proficiency in SQL tuning, understanding optimization (index types,
search arguments, covered indexes, etc.)
• SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Organized, self-motivated, great communicator and detail oriented
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Sense of humor and good people rapport
• Able to deal with the pressure of juggling lots of tasks
• Able to prioritize and shift projects quickly
• Experience as a programmer in JAVA/.NET technologies (C#, VB)
environments is a very huge plus and highly desirable
• Exposure to SharePoint, Performance Point Server 2007, and Ominiture/
Visual Sciences desirable
• Willing to travel on occasion
