Default Looking for a platform independent Data Warehouse modeling tool - 02-12-2004 , 09:27 AM

Hi,

as a newbie to data warehousing I am sifting through a myriad of tools
out there. We have written our own ETL infra structure (don't laugh),
and I am now looking for tool to help me design my data warehouse data
model (logical and physical model). It has to support at least DB2,
Oracle, and MS SQL Server.

So far I have looked at:
CA - AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler
Popkin - System Architect
Datanamic - DeZign for Databases

any hints or experiences with such tools, appreiciated,

Donal McAteer

Erwin has support for dimensional notation. I've yet to find a dimensional
that has both logical and physical properties other than the column and table
name spelled out. There is also Visio. Although, I like ERwin the best.

Hi,

please feel free to try our CASE Studio 2 - database design tools. It
allows you to create Entity Relationship Diagram for various databases
(more than twenty) - with physical and logical view on the model.
Features include also generating SQL scripts and reverse engineering.
