Default How to retrieve data into a VB-application using PowerPlay / Cognosinterface? - 11-20-2006 , 03:08 AM

Hi,

we have following problem: our customer has an installation of Cognos
and PowerPlay 8.0. Basic data are stored in an Oracle database.
The customer has a defined query in PowerPlay, which returns a set of
data (sales results).
The customers wants to integrate the sales data, returned from the query
within our VB6-application. The idea is following:
- we call the PowerPlay query (with some parameters),
- the query retrieves the needed data and passes it to our application
as a collection / array.
Is it possible? Does PowerPlay has a suitable API? Could you give us an
advice, how to implement such a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards
Leszek

PS. Enviroment: MS Windows XP/2000, MS VB6, MS VC++.

Hello SST.

PowerPlay provides an OLE interface (to himself, cubes etc), so you can
query it from VB easily. Document describing objects, methods etÓ is
called PowerPlay Macro Reference Guide.
