Hi all,

Currently ours is a Cognos Reportnet shop. We get lot of reporting
requirements where the reports need to be generated (both in pdf and
excel format) in batch and stored on a network drive, so the users can
retrieve later. Typically we use the bursting capabilities of
Reportnet which will burst into several reports by Customer (10000+)
using Reportnet. Then the reportnet sdk is used to retrieve these
reports in the content store and saved on the network drive. In the
beginning this looked like a great idea, but now we have a bunch of
reports that are run this way and it also turns out to be very CPU
intensive and time consuming.

We use Reportnet 1.1 now and planning to get cognos 8 later this year
or next. Does anyone know if Cognos 8 has a better way of handling
this kind of functionality? Have you guys worked in a similar
requirement? What application have you used besides Cognos?
