Default Cognos ReportNet - 08-22-2003 , 11:43 AM

Anyone got a feel for this product yet? do you think the intent is to
move most of the product suite to this architecture? If so it looks
like (visually anyway) it will cause a stir to people like MSTR, BO
and other high priced suites.

ReportNet is still missing full integration with olap and the financial
products (they can be integrated but do not share quite the same type of
interface). Cognos is definitely moving towards this architecture with all
products. The fact that there is a db content store allows general db
backup procedures to stay true to form. No client tools necessary,
everything web based, beautiful...

This release is already sending shivers (look at the hasty acquisitions
lately, especially the Crystal one). This could be the silver bullet.

ya
(I'm mainly Cognos trained so for sure I am biased, but other techs I have
spoke with feel the same)
I'd love to here others feelings...
