Default Any experience and information on a product called Oracle Inline Suite? - 10-29-2003 , 08:26 PM

Hi Experts,

I am working on a data mining project, using Oracle. The project is
at the initial stage, and I am new to data mining. I would be
grateful if you can share some of the experience on it.

I understand there are two data mining products on Oracle Data Mining:
1. Oracle Data Mining for Java (DM4J), which is a developer tool to
develop data mining java component. And it uses Oracle 9i Data Mining
option.
2. Oracle Inline Suite. I cannot find any information on the web. Do
you have any info (e.g. url) that has such information. It seems it
is not a product like Oracle 9iEE or Oracle 9iAS, which are package
products.

There are not many choices for me for this project due to contractual
reasons. So by now, I am only comparing these two products.

Do you have any experience and comments on these two products,
especially on Oracle Inline, as there really not much information
there, even I can't find in the metalink.

Thanks very much in advance.

Regards,
Johnny.

Hi Johnny

DM4J, as you have found is indeed an Oracle product. A toolkit you can
use to embed Oracle 9i Data Mining into your application. You can get
information on this from Oracle Technology Network :
http://otn.oracle.com/products/bi/odm/odmining.html

Inline is a solution template delivered to Oracle Data Mining customers
by Oracle Consulting. It is not a 'product' as you correctly
identified, but a consulting accelerator which can be purchased at
nominal cost from Oracle Consulting as part of a project involving our
people. You should contact your local Oracle Office and ask to speak
with the Consulting Manager for Business Intelligence & Warehouse.

If you are new to data mining, I would recommend that you seek some
advice from Oracle data mining specialists, regardless of the tools you
use, so that you get off to a good start and get good results from your
investment in the technology.

Let me know (off-line) if you need help in locating the right people in
Oracle in your country/region.

Hope it helps, Kevin (@ Oracle)
