I'm looking at various OLAP software packages. Our company is already
using Actuate and I thought that this addition - "Analytics Option"
might do we what need.

But unfortunately, I was not able to find any references to this
product on the web (outside of Actuate's web site ----)))). It's not
on www.olapreport.com radar either.

Is anybody using it? Is it any good? How it compares to Microsoft
Analysis Services ....

The tool you are looking at is the OEM-Integration of Databeacon
(http://www.databeacon.com/) in Actuate. The storage and calculation
capabilites of Databeacon cannot be compared to those of MS AS. It targets
small OLAP models and isn't a full-blown OLAP Server. On the other hand
Databeacon offers analysts an easy-to-use interface to those small OLAP
cubes.
