That's interesting, because I've had several PHP BBs's over the years and never had any problems requiring a knowledge of PHP or MySQL. You need to keep both up to date for security reasons, but that's not too hard, either. *And you'll have similar problems if you don't keep any software up to date. |

I am an experienced Mac user, and have been managing websites for a decade in addition to doing print publications. I am proficient with Dreamweaver, Photoshop, QuarkXPress, InDesign, Illustrator, MS Word Office Suite, and Quickbooks Pro. I was able to quickly grasp the operating procedure and seetings for the forum set up. I am, however, absolutely lost and confused, and stressed-fatigued by the constant phpbb bug problems and MySQL error messages, and the parade of people telling me to go look at a link when its just a bunch of industry jargon that is like hearing blah, blah, blah, blah. This is not isolated to me. Take a look at that phpbb community board. Every day, all day, it is a flurry of postings from people in my shoes. |
