This is the hypothetical example I used.. so ya I'm sure.

In a real world, orders can be sold to one customer but delivered to a
customer's customer.

Well, in a real world, things can get really complicated. Orders may be
partially cancelled, extended, transferred or replaced; bills may be
split among several addressees, etcera. And all that doesn't even
involve (non-)payment.

So, if SpreadTooThin was just painting a hypothetical situation (which
I can't even read anymore, since the original post has already been
removed from my local view), then he is free to limit the circumstances
to whatever he feels appropriate.
The relevance of the hypothetical situation may disappear, though.

Oh yes, and split deliveries, partial payments...cancellations..credit
notes..

Bills however are normally to a single entity, theone with whom one
enters onto a contract.

Multi pary contracts are a bitch..and generally covered by 'jointly and
severally' or some other phrase that means they can't give you the
run-around.

Oh yes. If its designing for reality, rather than hypothesis, one had
better establish one's possible relationships, early...
