Hi, Can anyone recommend a really easy to use schema viewer for MySQL? I just need to generate a graphic map of selected tables. Tx ;-) |

Tx ;-) I would recommend that you have a look at: http://schemaspy.sourceforge.net/ I have a small sample mysql database documented with schemaspy at: http://www.dustbite.se/ladok3/ which you can have a look at. The comments are in Swedish so they probably doesn't make much sense ;-) In my experience it is much easier to automate the generation of docs with schemaspy than with say PowerDesigner or ERwin. These tools are primary modeling tools, so the comparision is perhaps unfair. On the other hand, license cost for these kind of tools are pretty expensive and schemaspy are free, so perhaps it is worth mentioning anyhow. We had some minor issues documenting MQT:s in db2, we proposed a patch to the author, and in a week or so he added a better fix that solved our issue. /Lennart PS. I have no affiliation with schemaspy, I just find it a valuable tool DS. |

Tx ;-) I use the SE edition of MySQL workbench. The SE edition is not free, $100/year, but it has the capability you want. Joe |
