Default MySQL connection - 05-10-2008 , 09:32 PM

I installed a MySQL server on my computer two months ago, but several
days before I installed XAMPP. Since XAMPP contains MySQL, I am afraid
that there is a collision. Maybe I have two MySQLs on my computer. And
I don't know how to connect to MySQL even I know the username and
password of the original MySQL. Any idea?

Probably no collision. You can have multiple MySQL's on the system.
They'll each have to have their own resources (sockets, etc.), but if
they don't, the second one just won't start.

But if you don't even know how to connect to MySQL, you need to visit
the bookstore. There's a lot to MySQL (or any RDBMS), and it's not
simple for a beginner. Connecting is just the start - you'll need to
learn SQL, database design and normalization and other things. And
while the MySQL manual is an excellent reference, but not a great
learning tool.

Meanwhile, check out the mysql command. And if you're going to be
connecting from a program, look at the references for that language.

Ah, didn't pay attention the first time.

Try using your real name. The real Erwin Moller is much more
intelligent than you. And he doesn't need to go around stealing other
people's names.

Get lost, troll.

For others in this group - this guy has been making us think he's Erwin
in comp.lang.php for a couple of weeks. He finally gave up there
because the rest of us caught on. Now he's trying over here.
