Default Compressed text fields in mysql - 09-15-2011 , 08:16 AM

What tools do I get to store a compressed text column
in MySQL?

I have a very large table with a particular column, which is XML data,
that I will almost never need to retrieve. If I ever do, I would be
okay with the query taking a lot longer due to uncompression.

thanks
