Default Standby Server - 08-04-2003 , 09:23 AM

Hi:

Anyone has a detailed procedure description about how to setup a standby
server? Microsoft makes it sounds very easy which are more complicated.
How to handle system databases, does standby server need to be exact
hardware as the primary one?

Thanks in advance,

Xiaodong

As you say, Microsoft has white papers on it.

"It depends"

What do you mean by stand-by?

A clustered server (that requires Enterprise licenses)
A log-shipping server.
A replication driven server
Other?

Each has its plusses and minuses and is set up differently.
