We're looking for a Senior Database Administrator, for our office in
Toronto, Ontario Canada.

Position Description
· Responsible for ongoing development and tuning of Data Tier
Databases (MS SQL Server 2005) and the C# API to the database
Experience managing large scale, high concurrency, live, production
databases (i.e., security, clustering, monitoring, maintaining
respectable uptime, applying upgrades and patches with minimal
downtime, etc.)
· Experience managing physical aspects of databases (i.e., file,
disk,
server, data center, backups, etc.)
· Proven experience developing object-relational persistence
framework
and/or using various commercial/open source frameworks (ideally based
on ado.net)
· Proven ability to troubleshoot and fix blocking, deadlocking
and
performance problems
· Responsible for development/maintenance of existing reporting
infrastructure using Reporting Services 2005
· Experience with the architecture, design and development of
Data
Warehouses and Business Intelligence tools
· SQL Server 2005 DBA Certification/experience a plus

Required Skills
· Minimum 4 years commercial development using MS SQL Server -
much
of this experience should be focused on developing, deploying and
operating large, highly reliable databases with particular emphasis on
identifying and resolving performance problems - this experience
should include time spent implementing and executing day to day DBA
tasks - experience defining, evaluating and recommending appropriate
database hardware is very desirable
· Hands on experience using Reporting Services 2005, Integration
Services 2005 and Analysis Services 2005
· Minimum 1 year commercial development experience in .NET using
C#
· Minimum 1 year commercial development experience in .NET
Framework
1.0 and 1.1 System.Data.SqlClient interface to MS SQL Server
· Minimum 1 year commercial development experience is large scale
multi-threaded and distributed systems ideally with an operational
focus
· Hands on experience implementing, maintaining and monitoring
SQL
Server 2005 Transactional Replication, Log Shipping and Database
Mirroring.

Nice To Have Skills
· Oracle, IBM DB2 or MySQL DBA experience
· Programming experience w/ other DB APIs (i.e., JDBC, ODBC,
etc.)

Education
· 4 year Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering or
equivalent
