Greetings!

We have P4-2.4/1024Mb/37Gb(4 SCSI) platform with installation of MS SQL
Server 2000 Developer Edition, 6 databases at all: 2 are Project Server
bases, mdf files sizes over 120Mb each one (it's strange: one of the .ldf
files occupies over 10.4 Gb !), others are usual server bases ( .mdf file
size keeps within 50 and 95Mb, with .ldf files sizes from 30 to 60Mb)

Got a problem:

when entering Enterprise manager, we are waiting too long (we think so) for
the properties to be opened: it takes more than 1 minute, against 2 or 4
seconds a month ago !

Our questions:

How to solve such a problem on this platform ?

How to decrease the huge (10.4Gb!) file size ?

Variants:

1.. Diversify .mdf and .ldf files to two physical devices
2.. Set up log-files truncation and increase memory size to be used by MS
SQL Server (600Mb is assigned now, 1Gb total)
What is the most competent way to do that ?

Would you be so kind to advice me more acceptable, optimal decisions.

Hi - I had something that sounds similar a few months back.
Reinstalled some service packs and it seemed to cure it, getting the
response times back up.

Hope you fix it - I know how tedious that is!
