Default how to install 64-bit version? - 03-09-2006 , 12:22 PM

I installed SQL Server 2005 on a server running Windows Server 2003
x64, and it installed into the "Program Files (x86)" directory, so I
assume it installed the 32-bit version. How do I get it to install the
64-bit version? I don't see an option for this anywhere. I got the DVD
at the MS launch conference a few months ago - does this even have the
64-bit version on it?

Thanks for any assistance,
Seth

I don't know what's on that DVD, but on the real DVD the first thing
that happens when you slide it in, is that you get a splash screen
where you can select x86, x6 and IA64.

You might want to check the documentation for the DVD you got at the
launch to see what it says. Or just browse it, and see if there is any
x64 on it.

Thanks, Erland. I rooted around the DVD and the only *64* items I found
in Servers\Setup were msxml6_x64, sqlncli_x64, SqlServer2005_BC_x64,
sqlwriter_x64 and sqlxml4_x64. So I suspect I don't have it but I'm not
sure. I guess I'll try to get in touch with MS and see if they can tell
me exactly what it is I have and how to get what I need.
