Hi maged,

There is no need to "join" this group. Just read messages if the usbject
interests you, post questions if you have any, post replies if you
happen to know the answer to other people's questions, etc.

I see from the headers of your message that you are accessing this group
through the Google Groupps interface. Maybe you are thinking that this
group is specific to Google. It is not. This is a group on usenet,
available to anybody who can access a usenet server. This grooup is also
mirrored on several web sites (Google Groups being one of them), using a
different layout but presenting the same content.

I know that Google Groups has *also* a number of groups exclusive to
Google Groups. Maybe these do require people to "join" the group; I
don't know, since I don't use Google Groups. I seem to recall seeing
them once, and noting that on the Google interface, there is no easy way
to tell the difference between a private Google group and a public
Usenet group mirrored on Google. But resst assured - this group
(comp.databases.ms-sqlserver) is a public Usenet group; there is no
formal or informal process required to join - just read, write and
enjoy!

Hi Maged,

My main interest is MS SQL Server; that's why I'm active in this group.
I also participate in several groups in the microsoft.public.sqlserver.*
hierarchy. There are a lot of groups there; I'd advise you to check the
list and see which subjects carry your interests.

I know that there are also other groups on internet, not visible on
usenet. But since I prefer to access the groups through a usenet reader,
I don't know them.

maged,

Although not "groups" there are definitely two free sites that offer a great
deal of quality SQL Server information:

h**p://www.sqlservercentral.com
h**p://www.sql-server-performance.com

Also, you can join the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS):

h**p://www.sqlpass.org
