successfully by the applications but i cannot connect to the instance
using the enterprise manager.

the error i get is

What version of SQL Server is the instance running?

What name has the instance? Or is the default instance?

How do you specify the server in Enterprise Manager?

Sorry for responding by asking questions, but you did not provide
information enough to tell what the problem might be.
