Default Untrusted site message - 01-21-2009 , 06:26 PM

I have a front end / back end application which is distributed among
about ten remote laptops. The application is secured with an mdw.

It has recently acquired a problem which may, or may not, be related to
the addition of internet hyperlinks to some help buttons.

I typically distribute a zipped new version of the front end for
installation by the remote users who simply extract the mde file to a
folder and run it. It has been working since 2002.

Recently SOME users have been getting the following message after
entering their password. The application does not proceed.

" Microsoft Access cannot open this file.
This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.
Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security
problems.
To open the file, copy it to your computer or an accessible network
location. "

If I install the new front end directly from the office Windows 2003
Server network domain this does not happen. But that computer will
later fail on a remote installation.

I have tried removing the hyperlinks but without apparent success.
Part of my problem with testing this is my own test laptop does not
exhibit the error.

We use Firefox but I have tried making changes to security settings on
the resident copy of IE without success.

Any ideas??

Thanks
gus

This often occurs with Windows XP. Computer A, with the front end,
cannot read the data on Computer B, the back end.
You must program computer A to "trust" computer B.
1. Open interner explorer on A.
2. Click Tools -->Internet Options
3. Click the Security Tab
4. Click Trusted Sites button.
5. Then click Sites button.
6. Add the site name to the list of trusted sites, Do not add
"http://" before it, just add the name, such as
enterprise.business.edu
7. Click Add
8. Make sure that the checkbox at bottom "Require server verification
etc" is not checked.
9. Click OK on everything and close out Explorer.

I thank Mark Kimmet for posting this in 2003. Pete Brady
