Is anybody aware of other software conflicting with Access and disabling the tool tips. I've had this problem in the past and now have it again after rebuilding my desktop and notebook. Both fail to display tooltips in Access. Windows tooltips display OK. For a given database, the tooltips in Access also display OK on a third machine, which makes me think that some other software that I have installed on the first 2 machines is causing the problem. Any help would be appreciated. |

Thanks for the reply but this isn't causing the problem. It's definitely related to the 2 machines in question because the database shows tooltips fine on a third machine. The 2 machines giving problems have identical software installed and I think one of the applications must have changed something when it was installed and wrecked my Access tooltips. If I don't get an answer from the group, the only way that I can see of pinpointing which application it is that's causing the problem (if this theory is correct) is to install each app one at a time on to the third machine and see which one wrecks the tooltips. I wouldn't worry about any of this, except that somebody at MS has decided that we need the default tooltip of "Find Next" on every newly created button in a database. If I can't see the tooltips it's easy to miss deleting some of these. If there is any way of turning the default off, I'd sure love to hear about it. This, and the message that always asks if I'm sure that I want to delete a graphic from a button, when I've just indicated that that is exactly what I want to do, are 2 of my pet peeves when designing forms in Access. Now, now, you can't always blame Microsoft for Access problems. Open any |
