Table DataType Attachment - 06-08-2012 , 02:55 PM
Have just found the Attchment type of field in a table. Apparently new from
Access 2007. Missed that one. Is it possible to attach an email message? If
so, how? No problem attaching word docs or excel etc.

I never heard of it either :-) Embarrassing! :-)
In one of the Access 2010 books I have, it states that these file
formats are available to use:
There are a bunch of extensions that are not allowed for security
reasons. I do not see anything to do with email. Sorry, I don't feel
like typing them all right now. There are 71 of them that are not
allowed, including .app, .bat, .chm,. .mde.... I do not see .msg
mentioned in either list.
I just saved an Outlook email as *.htm and also as .msg and was able
to store both in the attachment field. And open them in Outlook!
Because of the space that this type of field takes up, she created a
separate database just for the attachment fields.
