Default Switching between Access 2003 and 2010. Pain in the ! - 12-14-2011 , 02:06 PM

Why when I boot up one version after running another does this install
process still have to be run? What is "MS Office Single Image"?

Is this what is supposed to happen?

Is there someway to turn this off?

The overall architecture of Office changed substantially between Office 2003
and Office 2007. An unfortunately by-product of that change was the
necessity for a reinstallation when you switch between one version and the
other. There's no official way to turn it off.

However, take a look at http://www.sagekey.com/installation_access.aspx for
a third-party product that's supposed to be able to get around the problem.

Thanks Douglas. I'll just boot them both up and switch between them
as needed.

Consider the use of Virtual Machines. You can have a different version of
Access in each VM and avoid this issue completely!
