Default Solution To ERROR 3051 (Client Cant Connect Due To Open Exclusive) - 12-19-2004 , 08:32 AM

Hi Guys,

I have a dbase installed on a network where the clints have linked
tables to the database on the server.

I found that i had to make some minor changes to the tables on the
server where the client databases look to for their data after I made
the changes I tried to open one of the clients databases and found
that I was getting an error 3051 open exclusive where when the client
tries to connect to the tables on the server it says they are open in
exclusive mode so cant allow opening.

After staying up all night I found a solution, this is:

1, Delete the share on the folder where the database is located.
2, Create a New share on the folder where the database is open.

I created the conditions for the error 3051 and applied the solution 5
times just to see if it wasnt a fluke, but it worked all 5 times.

Good Luck,

The Mad Programmer
