I am comfortable using workgroup files in the MDB world or using an ODBC connection. Now what I would like to achieve is to use SQL to take of *security and eliminate the use of a workgroup MDW file. * I played with SQL Express 2008 and Server Mgmt Studio and I know how to manage users & roles. *I want to use 'SQL Server Authentication' *rather than 'Windows Authentication' so many users can use the same Windows profile. |

Here is my newbie issue. When starting the front-end MDB or ACCDB, *is it possible to log on so the username and password will be later passed to SQL? *At least, to ask for the username and password when accessing the SQL data ? * I use a file DSN to configure my ODBC. In Access when I link an ODBC, it always saves the user and password even if I don't tell linked table manager to save the password (there is a checkbox). * So the SQL table can always be opened and it never asks for the username and password. *I tried with a System DSN instead of a File DSN, but no difference. I need some guidance (no suggestion to read a book please). *What should I do differently? |
