I see quite a few ISP's offering the serving of "ms-access" data. What is the situation with that? Are they offering a service where your tables must be converted to some flavor of SQL and then attached, or can you really upload MDB's? If you can upload MDB's, are they really talking about being able to access that data with Access, or are they referring to uploading an MDB and then using only Data Access pages? Finally, if these guys actually do host an mdb backend online to which you can attach with an Access or VB front end, how does the data transfer work? I assume there would be no server-side queries and therefore all the data has to travel through the wire before appearing on your screen. This sounds like it would be pretty slow. Thanks, Mike Hi |
