Default Publishing a block of code for all to use - 08-10-2010 , 04:38 AM

Hi Everyone again,

I mentioned a while ago that I was happy to publish a block of code I
wrote to allow the production of powerpoint slides from a report. I
have the code working nicely and I would like to share it, but I am
not sure how to 'publish' the code and pay attributes to those whose
code and work guided me on my quest and result. Secondly I have no
idea how to physically make it available to others without having to
search this forum. Thirdly, I would love some feedback on how to do
all this.

As always, any guidance greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to
contributing something back that perhaps might be useful to the
community as a whole.

Cheers

put your logic into SQL Server, then anyone can use it wherever they
want

you can do this with 'Access Data Projects' and still use your old
forms and reports!

Or of course, Microsoft Data Analyzer

Great! The only answer to this comes from the group troll.

Does your ISP provide any free webspace with your account? If so, then put
up a page to provide the code and an explanation of its workings.
Attributions are best as comments in the relevant code IMO.

Include the URL of your page in your sig in order to get the word out.

You might ask Allen Browne if he will host your code on his site. You can find
contact information for Allen at http://allenbrowne.com/index.html

Another person that might do so is Roger Carlson. Contact information for him
can be found at http://www.rogersaccesslibrary.com/ContactMe.html

Another place that might be willing to post your code is UtterAccess.com

Thankyou both Stuart and John. I will explore these possibilities.
Thankyou for taking the time.

I make some samples and examples availble on a free site at "tripod"...
http://www.tripod.com. I created the UI with the
now-no-longer-produced-by-Microsoft Front Page, include the databases as
files, so you can copy them down with a click. Microsoft has the enhanced
"Expression" products, but an old copy of the obsolescent Front Page still
does all I need for that simple site. This is one option you can consider.

Someone else has suggested using the website space that your ISP provides --
I was not able to use what my ISP provided because of the size/disk storage
limitations.

My user group has SharePoint, and using it in its native mode, I can post
files to share, and notes and announcements, maintain lists (of useful
Access sites, for example). No Access Web App was required for those
functions, as they are built in to the SharePoint product. Because of
Microsoft's strong support for the user group, SharePoint doesn't cost us an
arm and a leg, as it would commercial customers, so it is feasible for us.
