Default Office File Extensions and Differentiation. - 10-14-2011 , 04:57 PM

In Excel 2007/2010 I miight save the file as Junk and I end up with
Junk.Xlsx. Then I can do a SaveAs and save it in another earlier
version and I end up with Junk.Xls. I now have 2 Junk files with only
the letter "x" differntiating themselves.

Some clients may send a file as Xlsx, others as Xls. In something
like TransferSpreadsheet is it best to not supply the Excel version?
Do you use Dir(*.xls?") in file searches? I was wondering if there
were some good rules or advice to follow when opening and searching
for other Office files?

With Access it is quite easy to differentiate. There's a big
difference between Accdb and Mdb. Not much difference betwnn Xls and
Xlsx or Doc and Docx.

Hello Patrick

Ron DeBruin has many codes that sent Excel file attachments and I think
he has a code for the file.ext's also...check it out...
