Default Multiple versions on one machine - 07-22-2011 , 02:11 PM

Can anyone point me to the workaround allowing me to use multiple
versions of Access on one machine?

I've got Win 7 64 bit - A2010 64bit and A2007 32bit (was there ever a
A2007 64bit?).

Thanks - I've been looking everywhere and I can't see a solution. I
think I read I needed to install both under a completely separate
path, not under the MS Office folder, but my installation programs
don't seem to allow me to set the path.

Problem is the programs keep running their respective 'setup.exe' each
time I open the other.

Thanks.

No, there was never an A2007 64 bit. I'm told the only real reason
to use Access 64 bit is if the users require the huge space 64 bit
Excel gives you.

You do not have a choice in this behavior. No way to get around it
other than using virtual systems.

To prevent the setup from running each time you open the opposite
program, simply use these registry keys.

reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice14.0WordOptions /f /v NoReReg /t
REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice14.0ExcelOptions /f /v NoReReg /t
REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice14.0PowerPointOptions /f /v
NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice14.0AccessOptions /f /v
NoRepairNeeded /t REG_DWORD /d 1

reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice12.0WordOptions /f /v NoReReg /t
REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice12.0ExcelOptions /f /v NoReReg /t
REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice12.0PowerPointOptions /f /v
NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice12.0AccessOptions /f /v
NoRepairNeeded /t REG_DWORD /d 1

14.0 is for 2010 and 12.0 is for 2007. Either open cmd and run these
individually or put them in a bat file and let it rip.

I will try this then.

Yes, the 32 bit version is what most of us use and are recommending for
a2010.

Keep in mind you cannot mix/match 32 or 64 bit versions of the same release
(in this case 2010).

So, either all of office 2010 is 2010 32, or 2010 64 (no parts mixing all
one or other).

It's what MS is recommending, too, and has from the initial release
of O2010 64-bit.
