I have seen Access DB's with grey messages in combo boxes. Usually
"Enter this or that". When you click the box to enter, or select a
value it disappears. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Use the format property of the combobox and set the format to
@;"This is my message"

I believe the displayed column must be the bound column for this to work.
