Default Frustrating Problem With The Clipboard - 10-18-2011 , 09:00 PM

I've been experiencing a really annoying problem for quite some time
that I assume is being caused by some type of software conflict
because the problem reappears after a reinstall of Windows and all
applications. I'm running 3 versions of MS Access: 2003, 2007, 2010.

The issue that is causing the pain is centered around the clipboard.
I've read that MS Office apps use a separate clipboard and not the
standard Windows clipboard although I'm not sure if this is correct.
What is happening in all versions of Access is when I try to copy
controls on a form and then try to paste them into the same form, a
different form or a form in another database, more often than not the
objects will not paste because they don't seem to have been copied to
the clipboard. It is irrelevant weather I use Ctrl+C or the menu/
ribbon command to do the copy.

If I try to do the copy several times the clipboard will eventually
store the item and it can then be pasted. Usually on the first several
attempts the "paste" command is not available, leading me to believe
that the objects have not actually been copied to the clipboard. I've
even noticed text from the properties window refusing to copy at times
but this does not happen nearly as often as form controls refusing to
copy.

Are form controls actually copied to the Office clipboard or not? They
don't appear to be because if I have the Office clipboard visible I
don't see them being placed there, even when the copy "works". I've
installed another clipboard tool called "Clipmate" which seems to have
improved things a bit, though this may be purely coincidence. When a
form control is copied to Clipmate and I see it appear in the list of
copied items in Clipmate, it is not showing on the Office clipboard,
hence my earlier question as to whether the Office clipboard is
actually used in this case.

I've Googled fairly extensively on this but have found no mention of
it, let alone a resolution to the problem. Any help or suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying that you select some controls, do a CTRL+C, and you
can't paste the controls into the same form or another form? If so,
how strange. I'd probably unplug my keyboard and try another
keyboard. Can you cut and paste data in Excel or Word or Outlook?

Yes, extremely strange! It's not a keyboard problem because it is only
effecting Access and as mentioned in my post, it's irrelevant whether
I use Ctrl+C or the menu/ribbon command to perform the copy.

It does sound puzzling. If I were debugging this I'd try it on
another computer.
